Alternate worlds, magic, strange technology and full of action adventure in a world without gods, to which a young girl with extraordinary powers is abducted.  Sounds interesting? We hope you’re intrigued, because today we come to you with another comic book series, which is certainly worth your attention. We present the three first chapters of ”God Summoner”, the latest part of which we had the opportunity to read before the premiere!

The main characters of the series is Adelice Belmont – a young girl with extraodrinary power, turns out to be of key importance in another world. Zaros, as this world is called, is the place from which the gods were banished and where battles are constantly fought between the Inquisitors, led by the Grand Summoner Yram, and the resistance movement hailed as the Infidels. Adelice, abducted to Zaros, finds allies among the latter, who promise to help her find a way to her world. Unfortunately, as it usually happens, the return will not be such an easy task, and there are many dangers waiting for the heroes along the way.

The author efficiently uses tropes known to readers – starting with the young heroine transferred to another world, forced to fight to return to her loved ones, and ending with the classic fight between good and evil. Because, although we meet here the elements we know, the whole story intrigues from the very first issue and makes us want to not only find out what will happen next, but also discover what happened earlier and led the magical world that we will travel through on the pages of „God Summoner” to the state we are seeing it in now.

I mentioned the main character, but to be honest, „God Summoner” is more than just our little Adelice. This series has a lot of interesting side characters, including some that aren’t human. I am sure that everyone will find someone here whose fate they will be following with real interest: Malik – a member of the resistance movement who will quickly infect the reader with his enthusiasm and serenity, Adelice’s father, an example of a mentor and protector, McKlein, coming from a race of bird-like creatures, who appears only at the end of the third chapter, but already intrigues the reader. Personally, I am also very interested in the masked figure chasing our heroine, I hope that we will get to know their story.

Because Zaros is one of those places which secrets you discover with real pleasure and enthusiasm – it’s a world that delights with its richness and, as it turns out with each subsequent issue, still has a lot to offer. A great example is the latest, third chapter of the story, in which we will see the largest fragment of Zaros so far. I really like when magic meets technology, and what Dionysis Zogaris and Manos Lagouvardos have created is simply phenomenal – a huge Citadel reminiscent of the Tower of Babel, to which we will head inside an unusual train, a city built in a place where a hand of one of the gods left its inprint – this is just a fragment of the world that world that keeps stimulating your imagination.

This world has undoubtedly been additionally enriched by the phenomenal works of Manos Lagouvardos. Black and white styling, although it might seem a bit austere, makes „God Summoner” have an amazing atmosphere emanating from each page. The artist is great at creating both characters and the places they visit, and the number of details makes you want to stay a bit longer on some pages.

„God Summoner” turned out to be a really interesting discovery – this comic has everything you love in a Fantasy genre, ranging from interesting and diverse characters, a world that enchants the reader and encourages to explore it further, a neat combination of magic and technology, and ending with a story that makes you eagerly await its continuation. And you cannot forget about the truly phenomenal visuals – this is one of those comics that definitely pleases the eyes. I look forward to reading more!
