You worked with addicted youth as a consultant therapist – is Twisted Love the result of putting your own experiences from working with young people on paper? How much did you draw from your own work in creating the story of Aubrey and Maxx?

My characters are mostly based, in some part, on people I’ve worked with over the years. While Aubrey and Maxx were entirely fictional creations, I have worked with addicted youth many times and their struggles effected me deeply. As a writer, you always draw on personal experiences and the Twisted Love books are no exception.

What do you think is the most important in books for young people?  What is the element that attract the attention of your readers?

I think my readers like the realism in my stories. I try not to sugar coat the very real issues they face and I believe my readers appreciate that. I think books for young people need to treat their situations and experiences with respect. That is the most important thing.

Are you trying to convey to your readers some truths about life, or do you write just for entertainment? Or maybe both?

It’s certainly both for me. I write to for my own enjoyment. I get lost in the stories and I love creating new characters. But I think it’s equally important to not shy away from the difficult aspects of life. The struggles and the victories. I do try to show that in my books.

Do you think that love can overcome even the worst obstacles?

Yes and no. I think the idea that love conquers all is beautiful. I think you have to have that very solid foundation for any relationship to work. However, I do try to show in my stories that love alone can’t solve your problems. That often times someone has to work on themselves—take care of themselves first. And sometimes love is toxic and the person just needs to walk away.

Who is your favourite character of Twisted Love? I personally love Brooks.

I love Brooks too. I also love Renee, Aubrey’s best friend. I think her situation is incredibly raw and real. She broke my heart but it was important that she have her own happy ending as well.

Are you planning to return to the story of the characters from Twisted Love? Is this already a closed chapter?

I do think Aubrey and Maxx’s story is finished. But I’ve thought about writing Renee’s story eventually. I feel there’s more there to explore.

Do you like reading? If yes, then what kind of books you predominantly read? Is there any book which is somehow especially important for you?

I’ve been a reader my whole life. Right now I’m reading thrillers and crime stories. But I also love fantasy.

Did you know form the begging that you will become a writer?

I always wanted to be a writer but it was never something I expected to become my career. It was always a hobby. Something I did for fun. The fact that I have this as my job is a dream come true.

Where do you start writing? First is the story, the characters or maybe something else?

I usually get an idea and then I will sit and write scenes, out of order. The storyline often comes before the characters.

How do you prepare to writing your next books?

Sometimes there is research involved. Sometimes I read other books in the genre I’m writing in. Sometimes I listen to music to get in the mood of the story.

What emotions accompany you durning premieres of your books?

I’m usually a nervous wreck! Release days are hard. They never get easier.

Do you like meetings with your readers? Do you read people’s opinions about your books?

I love meeting readers! Honestly, I don’t read many reviews of my books, mostly that I’m only human and bad reviews do hurt (though I try not to let them get to me because you can’t please everyone). But I love hearing from my readers, no matter what they thought of my book and characters.

Are you planning to visit Poland and meet with you Polish fans in near future?

I have no immediate plans, but I’ve always wanted to visit Poland! So hopefully one day!

Is there anything more you would like to say to your Polish readers?

Thank you so much for loving Maxx and Aubrey as much as I do! I wouldn’t be able to create these characters without you!
